The Poconos Mountains in Pennsylvania is a great place to plan your wedding or honeymoon. They have a variety of attractions, so are a great year-round vacation or honeymoon spot. For fun in the winter, try skiing the slopes, or riding a snowmobile, or ice skating. In Spring enjoy the beautiful Laurel blossoms and shop the malls or outlets to find some great bargains. During summer and fall how about horseback riding, or hiking the mountains, or biking the trail, or white river rafting? Or maybe golfing?

For many years the Poconos Mountains have hosted honeymooners. The natural scenic beauty, fun-filled year round activities, the romantic atmosphere of Couples Only Resorts make the Poconos a great honeymoon location.

Couples-only Resorts have been famous for heart-shaped tubs. but some of these accommodations now include saunas, log-burning fireplaces and massage tables. Romantic!

If you decide on the Pocono Mountains as your wedding location, you can apply at the office of Clerk of Orphans’ Court in any Pennsylvania State Courthouse. You must apply in person and there is a mandatory three day waiting period before you can pick up the marriage license not counting the day the application is filed. The license is valid for 60 days and may only be used in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

1. Identification. Both parties must have a birth certificate and/or a driver’s license depending on the county in which filing. Some counties do not accept birth certificates.

2. $28 - $45 in cash. The cost of the marriage license varies among the four counties in the Pocono Mountains region. *Also varies from each court house. Most courthouses will only accept cash and no other form of payment. Check with each individual courthouse before you go.

3. Divorce Decree. A certified copy of each divorce decree (if married more than once) must be submitted by both parties or a death certificate if widowed.

Note — Physical Exam: As of June 1, 1997, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania no longer requires blood tests or physical exams for a marriage license.

Personalize Your Wedding Ceremony

Personalize Your Wedding Ceremony By : Jasmine MacDonald & Ashlee Burroughs

Here are some ideas to make your wedding ceremony unique:
Have your father and mother walk you down the aisle.
Burn incense - this will give the ceremony an exotic feeling.
Have children hand each female guest a flower such as a single carnation.

Personalize your wedding program with greetings, pictures and poetry. Have the Bridal party blow bubbles as you leave the ceremony.
As you are walking to the altar stop by your mother’s seat and give her a kiss and a rose. As you leave the altar (with your new husband), do the same for your new mother-in-law.
Or simply hand a rose to each or your mother’s as you leave the church during the recessional.
Line the window sills with votive candles.
Wrap greenery or tulle around the columns.
Light a Memory Candle to honor a loved one who is deceased.
Ask the clergymember to exchange places with you during the ceremony so you can face your guests. Light Candles of Peace - Have your ushers (or children) hand out candles to each guest as they are seated.
After lighting the Unity Candle, the bride and groom walk to the first pew (on their sides of the church). With their own candles, they each light the candle of the first guest in the first pew, who lights the candle of the person next to him/her, till all the candles are lit. Be  careful of the candles!!  Don’t need a fire!!
Write your own wedding vows or read poetry. (Do not let your fiance see the vows before the ceremony!)
Sip from two goblets of wine to symbolize the joy and sorrow of life.
Welcome guests with music outside the ceremony site - for example you could have bagpipes or a classical guitarist.
For indoor music you could have a harpist or a flutist.
Hang a wreath on the door of the ceremony site.
Ask a friend to sing a special song during the ceremony.
During the ceremony publicly acknowledge your parents by thanking them for their love and support. Have children ring bells.
